About Megan
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), supervised by Shawna Scarnato, LPC-S, with experience supporting adolescents and young adults across a range of mental health settings. My work spans multiple levels of care, allowing me to meet clients with flexibility, understanding, and compassion.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology, from Siena Heights University, where I was also a member of the softball team. After graduating, I moved to Texas and worked with incarcerated adolescents in Austin and within the juvenile probation department in New Braunfels. During this time, I completed my Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M -San Antonio.
I have since worked as a Mental Health Counselor III at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center, primarily supporting adolescents as well as youth specifically involved with the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). I also have experience in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), working with adolescents and young adults (ages 18–26).
My approach to therapy is non-judgmental, collaborative, and person-centered. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and structured sensory interventions.
I affirm all genders, identities, and hope to provide an inclusive, safe, space for the LGBTQ+ community.
I strive to meet each client where they are, helping them build insight, develop coping skills, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
