About Laura
“I have a passion for working with families.”
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Associate (LMFT-Associate) with a passion for working with families and relational systems. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University (Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2008 – Whoop!) and my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University.
My career began in 2009 as a residential counselor working with teen girls in treatment settings, and for the next seven years, I specialized in working with children, including those with special healthcare needs, IDD, and Autism, through Any Baby Can, Mission Road Developmental Center, and The Children’s Shelter. I then expanded my expertise to high-risk populations, specializing in Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and co-occurring substance use disorders through Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) case management. During my time at Crystal Counseling, I worked with Bexar County’s Mental Health Specialty Court, helping individuals facing legal charges engage in treatment programs to reduce recidivism and address underlying mental health conditions.
I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), The Gottman Method of Relational Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I am also bilingual in Spanish and provide LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, supporting diverse family structures and spiritual belief systems.
Outside of work, I am an animal lover, a devoted dog mom, and the proud mom of a wonderful son. I am currently training my dog, Greta, to be a therapy service dog. I also enjoy comics, board games, and Tarot card reading, and I look forward to obtaining certifications in Therapeutic Game Mastering and Tarot for Radical Reflection in Therapy.
