What is Meditation?
With roots in ancient traditions, meditation is a structured practice that trains the mind to focus, helping the body to relax. It often involves concentrating on a single point, such as the breath, a sound, or a guided visualization. Instead of trying to eliminate thoughts, the goal is to redirect and change how you relate to them.
Meditation has become increasingly popular recently due to its many benefits. Clinical studies have shown that meditation can significantly reduce chronic pain,1 effectively treat anxiety and depression,2 and improve sleep and overall well-being.3 For those recovering from trauma or dealing with chronic pain, meditation can lower the body’s stress response, release built-up tension, and create a safe space around complex sensations or emotions.

A guided practice that slowly directs attention through different parts of the body. Learn to observe sensations with curiosity instead of judgment and to respond with kindness to areas of discomfort instead of resisting them.
Breath Awareness
Focused breathing exercises that center on the body’s natural rhythm to help regulate the nervous system and reduce stress, offering a reliable way to return to calm when pain or intrusive memories become overwhelming.
Working with Thoughts and Emotions
Structured sitting meditations help enhance awareness of thoughts and emotions as they emerge. Instead of trying to push them away, you’ll learn to view these experiences with a compassionate lens and make choices that lessen suffering.
Walking and Movement Practices
Gentle, deliberate movements like walking meditation or mindful stretching enable us to better understand our body’s movement patterns and bring a meditative presence into daily activities.

Innova Peace: Chronic Pain PHP
At Innova, we understand that chronic pain is rarely just physical. It often involves stress, fear, and emotional struggles that perpetuate the cycle. That’s why we created Innova Peace, a specialized Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) focused on chronic pain. This distinctive program utilizes a structured approach that treats the mind, body, and spirit through an intensive combination of traditional therapies and holistic practices.
